    What is Pomotimely?

Pomotimely is a free online Pomodoro timer from Tik Timely. It runs right in your browser and helps you focus on one thing at a time, then take a proper break when the work block is done.

You can use it for studying, writing, coding, or pretty much anything that’s easier to get through when you work in short, uninterrupted stretches.

Set your own work and break times, add tasks with estimated rounds, and keep an eye on how many work rounds you’ve finished today. There’s no account to create and no setup that takes forever. Your settings, tasks, and today’s count stay in this browser on your device.

    What is the Pomodoro Technique?

The Pomodoro Technique is a time-management method developed by Francesco Cirillo when he was a student. The idea is pretty straightforward: work for a short, timed period - traditionally 25 minutes - then take a short break. Each work period is called a pomodoro, which comes from the Italian word for tomato, named after the kitchen timer Cirillo used.

You pick one task and work on it until the timer ends, then take a break before starting the next round. After a few work rounds, you take a longer break. That’s the basic idea, anyway.

Pomotimely follows this pattern by default: 25 minutes of work, a 5-minute short break, and a 15-minute long break after every four work rounds. If those times don’t work for you, you can change them in Settings.

How to use this Pomodoro timer

    1. Add the tasks you want to finish. Set an estimate in work rounds (one round is one work period).
    2. Select a task so finished work rounds count toward it.
    3. Press Start and stay on that task until the alarm.
    4. Take the short break.
    5. After four work rounds, take the long break.
    6. Repeat until the task is done.

Skip jumps to the next period without counting the round. Reset returns to round 1 of work. Open Settings for durations, auto-start, alarm, notifications, and theme.

    What’s included

    • Work, short break, and long break, with lengths you set
    • A task list with estimates, optional notes, and today’s round count
    • An alarm when a period ends, plus optional browser notifications
    • Optional auto-start so the next period begins on its own
    • Keyboard shortcuts and color themes
    • Local storage only — no sign-up

For a single countdown with no breaks, use the online timer. To time laps instead of focus rounds, use the online stopwatch. To keep the current time in view, open the online clock.

    FAQ

    What is a focus round?

It’s one work block, followed by a break. By default, it’s 25 minutes of work and a 5-minute short break, then a 15-minute long break after four rounds.

How long should a work session be?

Usually, the Pomodoro Technique uses 25 minutes. That’s the default here too. You can open Settings if a shorter or longer work block works better for you.

    Can I change the durations?

Yes. Open Settings to change the work, short break, and long break times. You can also choose how often the long break shows up. If the timer is already running, changes will apply to the next period.

Does the timer keep running if I switch tabs?

Yep, it does. The timer uses the real clock, so the remaining time should stay right even when the tab is in the background. Just keep the tab open if you want the alarm or browser notification to work.

Do my settings sync across devices?

No, not right now. Your settings, tasks, and today’s count stay on this device and in this browser. There’s no account or cloud sync, which is kind of the point.

    What are the keyboard shortcuts?

Space starts or pauses the timer. 1, 2, and 3 switch between Work, Short break, and Long break. S opens Settings. Shortcuts don’t work while you’re typing in a field, of course.
